My Trip To Canada Part 2

Once back in London, Brianna and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on the 13th… which was a Friday. It was actually a very nice day and not unlucky at all! Her grandmother drove us to Taco Bell so we could pick up some lunch (I know Taco Bell isn’t exactly great food, but we don’t have them in the UK so I have it when I can!). We then drove over to Springbank Park where we ate our Taco Bell while they emptied the bins right next to us… that was quite unappealing.

After lunch, Bri and I went to Storybook Gardens to see the animals, and watched the daily seal feeding. I wanted to listen to what the keeper was saying, but unfortunately all the kids watching were making too much noise and it was hard to hear him. Ah well… what’re you gonna do?

After leaving Storybook, we went to feed the ducks in Harris Park, I really enjoyed that. I like ducks as you can probably tell. We stayed there for about half an hour, then walked through downtown and Bri showed me a few places she used to hang out, like Covent Garden Market (it’s just like being at home!). By now it was starting to get late in the afternoon so we decided to get some dinner.

We caught the bus to the Mongolian Grill on Richmond Street. I had never been to anything quite like it. It’s a kind of stir-fry buffet… it was a little daunting at first, but Bri had been there before, so she showed me what to do.

First you take a bowl and you pick your type of noodles (or pasta), then the vegetables you want… mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrot, broccoli, bok choi, onion etc. Then you pick the meat you want… beef, pork, lamb, chicken or prawns. Next you choose the type of sauce and oil you want it all cooked in. There was a wide variety to choose from. The first bowl I had contained teriyaki sauce and garlic oil, for example. You could then pick from a selection of spices to add a bit more flavour.

Once you were done choosing the ingredients, you handed the bowl over to one of the chefs, who’d cook your meal up on a huge circular grill using wooden sticks to break up the meat and turn all the food over until it was cooked evenly. They’d then slide it all back into a bowl and hand it to you. It was a great experience, and the food was amazing, very filling though. I really enjoyed it.

The end to a great day.

My Trip To Canada Part 1

I arrived back in the UK on Sunday from a 2 week holiday in Canada, visiting my girlfriend Brianna in London, Ontario. I really had the most amazing time, and wish I was still there.

We took a whole bunch of pictures, and over 5 gigs of video on my new camcorder which I had bought especially for the trip. I will probably end up editing out the majority of the video since it’s mostly bad shots, terrible angles and awful dialogue, but it’ll be great being able to watch back some of the fun my girlfriend and I had together.

The first week I was there, Bri, her mum and her boyfriend and myself took a trip to Weslemkoon Lake and stayed in a cottage out on the lake, which is on an island so only accessible by boat. It was truly amazing. The views on the lake were just incredible. The mosquito situation was not so pleasant however; I got bitten at least 30 times in the 4 days we were there.
