Shared Items Blog

When Google Reader removed the old Share option in favour of using Google+ instead, I started using IFTTT (If This Then That) to automatically post anything I tag with the word “shared” to a separate WordPress blog on my site. After I had managed to turn on WordPress’s MultiSite option of course.

I also imported my old shared items into the same blog using some PHP trickery and the JSON file of my shared items from Reader, so the articles I had shared in the past would all be in one place.

I started off using a random theme for my shared items blog, called Fiver. It was pretty basic and bare. I wasn’t happy with it though. Which is why I spent a few hours over the weekend, and today, putting together a sort of mashup – between Fiver and my regular blog’s theme. I’m pretty happy with the results, I still might tweak it a bit more here and there.

Why not check out my new Shared Items blog, and see the new theme for yourself.
